Studio visit: Boudicca

ZowieMe.jpgThe London-based design team Boudicca
has received quite a bit of press this past year for their perfume Wode, which
is a sublime visible fragrance that sprays on your clothes in Yves Klein Blue
and then completely disappears. But the really interesting story is the fascination that co-founders Zowie Broach and Brian Kirkby have with warrior queens (they named their clothing line after the iconic woman hell-raiser who led her tribe in a revolt against the Romans), which drives their
ready-to-wear and couture work. I traveled to Hackney on a rainy Friday to
visit their work studio and showroom where Zowie Broach, who founded the label
with Brian back in 1997, and I chatted about life, the
Internet and the warrior queen research behind her spring and fall collections.
