Giorgio Armani
The autumn Giorgio Armani collection was called “The New Chic” and revealed the same purity of line that the designer mogul has built an empire on. Skirts and dresses came in A-line shapes, while cropped jackets had broad shoulders. On paper it sounds rigid, but on the body it was quite fluid and soft. The fabrication looked very rich: deep colored velvet and delicate, shimmery sequins. It’s just too bad the collection didn’t have a younger energy to go along with all that newness the title implied. The collection’s retro glamour fell a bit too far on the safe side of classic for me.
